Science
At Chapelhill Primary, we want every child to develop curiosity about the natural world and see themselves as scientists who ask questions, explore ideas and investigate how things work. Our Science curriculum follows the National Curriculum in England and is delivered through the Kapow Primary scheme of learning, enabling pupils to develop secure scientific knowledge alongside essential enquiry and investigation skills.
The curriculum is taught through a carefully sequenced two-year rolling programme, ensuring progression from Year 1 to Year 6. Pupils build understanding across the key areas of biology, chemistry and physics while developing working scientifically skills such as observing, predicting, testing and interpreting results. Learning begins with exploration and simple investigations in Key Stage 1 and progresses to more independent enquiries, fair testing and accurate use of scientific vocabulary in Key Stage 2.
We aim for pupils to leave Chapelhill Primary with a secure understanding of scientific concepts and the confidence to investigate and explain the world around them using evidence and scientific language, preparing them for future learning in science and beyond.
