Sandbrook Primary School

PE

At Chapelhill Primary, our Physical Education curriculum is guided by the National Curriculum in England and supported by the EdSential scheme of work. We aim for every child to develop a lifelong love of physical activity. Our curriculum promotes physical competence, confidence, and enjoyment through a broad range of sports and activities. We strive to develop fundamental movement skills, teamwork, resilience, and sportsmanship, ensuring all children understand the importance of leading healthy, active lives.

We teach PE through a two-year rolling programme to ensure full National Curriculum coverage. Lessons are active, inclusive, and carefully sequenced, building skills progressively across games, gymnastics, dance, athletics, and outdoor adventurous activities. Children participate in competitive sport and enrichment opportunities to enhance learning. Teachers are supported with high-quality planning and built-in adaptations that ensure PE is inclusive for all abilities. We aim for our pupils to leave Chapelhill Primary with the physical literacy and positive mindset required to embrace a healthy, active lifestyle throughout their lives.
