Sandbrook Primary School

Spanish

At Chapelhill Primary, we teach Spanish as our Modern Foreign Language. Our provision follows the National Curriculum in England and is supported by the Kapow Primary Spanish scheme. We aim to foster a love of languages and broaden cultural understanding.

We teach Spanish through a two-year rolling programme to ensure full National Curriculum coverage. Kapow Primary provides a carefully sequenced Spanish curriculum to ensure progression in speaking, listening, reading, and writing. Lessons build vocabulary and grammar systematically and promote accurate pronunciation, incorporating built-in adaptations to support diverse learning needs and mixed-age classes. Cultural understanding is embedded throughout units of work. We aim for our pupils to leave Chapelhill Primary with a secure foundation in Spanish, able to communicate in simple sentences and understand basic grammar structures, ready for further language learning.
