Art and Design

At Chapelhill Primary, we want every child to see themselves as an artist and designer. Our curriculum follows the National Curriculum in England, is delivered through the Kapow Primary scheme, and develops creativity, confidence, and technical skills across drawing, painting, sculpture, craft, and design. We aim for children to enjoy art and design, express themselves, and learn about a wide range of artists, designers, and cultures.

We follow a two-year rolling programme to ensure all National Curriculum content is covered. Lessons are practical, engaging, and carefully sequenced so children build skills over time. Children use sketchbooks to explore ideas and reflect on their work. Teachers are supported with high-quality Kapow resources and clear progression guidance, which include built-in adaptations to ensure the curriculum is accessible and appropriately challenging for all learners. We aim for our pupils to leave Chapelhill Primary with the creativity and technical confidence to express their unique artistic voice and appreciate the visual world
around them.
